DIPS- Dies, Ink, Paper & Stamps Birthday Cards & Spinach Dip Recipe

Welcome to my DIPS card and recipe series!
Each month I will share a card recipe with you using just Dies, Ink, Paper & Stamps
and one of my favorite dip recipes!

This month I am featuring all retired items (minus the cardstock and ink).
You can interchange the "ingredients" for this recipe (layout).
Just pick out your favorite DSP, a stamp set with a large birthday greeting, and a rectangle die.
I used two different kinds of DSP to create a his and hers Birthday card look.
Sometimes we don't know what to do with all of the extra DSP we have lying around.
These DIPS cards are perfect for helping use up your pretty paper.

Measurements
Card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
DSP: 4" x 5 1/4", 4" x 3/4"
Basic White: 3" x 4" (die cut), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)

D- Textured Notes Dies
I- Early Espresso/Berry Burst
P- Early Espresso/Berry Burst & 12" x 12" DSP
S- Layered Thoughts

That's it! No embellishments, no coloring, just simple, quick and clean.
I made these to give out to nieces and nephews who live far away from me.

This DSP has great texture and creates a great backdrop to the Birthday greeting.

When you cut a 12" x 12" piece of DSP into six 4" x 5 1/4" panels you are left with three 4" x 1 1/2" pieces. You just cut that piece in half at the 3/4" and glue it to the Basic White for the inside of the card! So there is NO leftover paper with this layout!

Be sure to use a BIG stamp image to cover most of the front of the card.

Same layout, just different colors and DSP. This same change can make it gender specific.

I used 3 sheets of 12" x 12" DSP, so I could make 18 cards.
When making lots of cards at once, do each step in batches. Cut all the paper first. Die cut next, and stamp and then attach.

The main products I used are retired but you can make this layout with any of our DSP, and any of the Dies listed below!

Spinach Dip Recipe

Since this is my first share in this series, I wanted to share my favorite dip to make for parties, especially the super bowl. I also wanted to give you a dip that is easy because you use a mix (kind of like using a kit for card making). The recipe is on the back of the Knorr Spinach Dip seasoning mix but I will share with you some of my tips.

Follow the recipe above but here are my tips:
1. You don't have to cook the frozen spinach, it is already cooked. I just let it set out for a little bit (30 minutes) and then put it into a strainer, rinse with cold water and squeeze the water out. Also, 10 oz of frozen spinach is hard to find and so I get the larger size and love the extra spinach.
2. Green onions and water chestnuts are not optional. Just add them! They give it an extra crunch and onion favor.
3. Best eaten with Sun Chips! But I've dipped carrots with it, even my pizza into it. Remember this is a party food (the Superbowl) and is an all around yummy dip. Bonus is that it makes you feel healthy because of the spinach!

Happy Stampin' & Dipping Everyone!!!
