Need a great and easy gift card holder for your favorite graduate??? Then you will LOVE this card!
It is my daughter's Senior year and she graduates next week! We are sending out so many graduation cards because so many of them are her friends! Years ago I started giving gift cards to a local grocery store for the amount of $20 and whatever cents it was for the year. So for this year they get $20.22. This gift doesn't brake the bank and still gives some something they can use for college, mission, and when they move out of their parents (because everyone has to eat).
The tassel I made as from retired SU twine but I recommend using whatever you have handy or using thread floss from your local craft store.
You can customize this card with colors of cardstock and the color of the tassel. I kept this one pretty generic and could send to anyone.
This fun fold is so easy because all you need to do is an extra score on the cardbase!
You could use any stamp set for the saying inside but I used the Celebrating You stamp set because it had the perfect greeting for me!
Supplies
Celebration You Stamp Set
Paper- Basic Black, Gold Foil, Basic White
Ink- Memento Black
Round & Square Brads
Foam Mat
Liquid Glue & Tear Tape
*Twine or Floss for tassel
Measurements
Basic Black Cardbase: 4 1/4 x 11 scored @ 5 1/2 & 1 1/4
Gold Foil: 1 x 4 (times 2)
4 1/8 x 4 1/8
Basic White & Black: 4 x 4
Steps
- Measure, score and cut your paper.
- Stamp on the Basic White yours saying in black ink and glue to the inside of the cardbase.
- To create your tassel use the 4 x 4 piece of Basic Black and wrap your twine/floss around it about 8-10 times (depending on how thick you want it). Cut 2 pieces of twine at about 5 inches. Use one at the center of the wrapped around twine and the other to tie around the folded over top (see video). Cut the loop ends and trim if needed.
- Flip over the 4 x 4 Basic Black and make a line at the 2 inch mark on two sides. Where the lines meet poke a hole with your foam mat underneath and the Take Your Pick Tool. Flip over (so the lines don't show) and put a square brad through it. Before securing, add the tassel end underneath the brad and fasten it on the back.
- Glue the Gold Foil to the cardbase and to the Basic Black piece and then glue that to the card front.
- Use two pieces of Tear Tape on the edge of the cardbase front and glue to the inside of the card to create the pocket for gift cards.
