Tuesday's Tip at Ten- Untraditional Christmas Colors

When we think of Christmas we usually think in reds and greens. Sometimes we will think of a "silver" Christmas with metallic shades but rarely do we think purple, pinks, or blues equal Christmas.

I am challenging you to think out of the "Christmas Box" and reach for colors you like even for  Christmas! So if pink is your favorite color, use it! Orange or browns? Why not! Pick what you like.

By the end of Christmas card making season I usually even get sick of the red and green shades and can't wait for Spring but this tip will help with the color overload and add a little "spice" to your card making!!

New at SU Blog Hop- Sketch Challenge

Welcome to the NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of StampinUp! Independent Demonstrators from around the world who are full of creative paper crafting ideas to share with you and get you crafting! Today we are showing how to use a sketch using different stamp sets.

Here is the sketch we were challenge to follow.

I chose to use the Layering Leaves, which is a Million Dollar Sales Achiever Rachel Tessman's stamp set.

I decided to try this layout in two directions; vertical and horizontal.

A close look at the card and I dare say I nailed this sketch challenge. The strip with the sentiment on it. Then above and below the greeting is a cluster of foliage. My added detail is the background stamping I did as well with the leaves in a lighter color.

Now the hard part is knowing which card you like better.
 Vertical (above) or Horizonal (below).

I love them BOTH and can't wait to make more cards with this layout!
The fun doesn't have to stop here! Use the links below to hop through and see more stamp sets with this same layout.

I am happy to answer any questions about the techniques shown here! Please contact your StampinUp! demonstrator to make a product purchase. If you do not have a demonstrator, you can use the links below to order products from me or join my team.

Measurements
Very Vanilla: 5 1/2"  x 8 1/2" scored @ 4 1/4" (cardbase)
4 1/4" x 1" (strip)
3" x 2" (leaves)

Tuesday's Tip at Ten- Lining Up Leaves

Tuesday's Tip at Ten!
Some of Stampin' UP!'s stamp sets are 2-Step Photopolymer like the Layering Leaves set above.
First you step the outline usually in one color and secondly you stamp the "fill in" image in another color. This style of stamping works great with Photopolymer sets because you can see through them. However, sometimes the fill in doesn't line up right because of how flexible the photopolymer is. That is when my tip comes in handy.

First: Stamp the outline image like you always do.
Second: Place the fill in on top of the stamped image, lining it up just right.

Thirdly: Use a clear block to "pick up" the fill in image, so that it keeps the shape of the outline.
Fourth: Ink up the fill in and line it up over the outline. It should be a perfect match now!

I hope this tip helps you when you are stamping with the Layering Leaves set or ANY of Stampin' UP!'s Two Step Stamping Sets!

Happy Stampin' Everyone!!!
