Tuesday's Tip at Ten- Top Ways to Use a Bone Folder

Tuesday's Tip at Ten is all about the stampers best friend and unsung hero, the Bone Folder. This small craft room tool might not look like much but is essential to have when working with paper.  Below is listed the top 3 ways to use it but there are so many things this tool comes in handy for!

You can order from my website just by clicking here

Parts of the Bone Folder

Score
By holding onto the bone folder like a pencil, you are able to create score lines with the tip of the bone folder. To keep your score line straight it is best to use a ruler or with a scoring board or paper trimmer. Scoring is what we do to paper to make it fold where we want it to fold with ease. It is used to make cards (usually one score line unless it is a Fun Fold) and to create boxes, treat holders, and so much more.

Crease
After your paper has the perfect score, it isn't enough. You need to be able to create a nice crisp crease so that your card or project will lay flat. By holding the bone folder with a grip underneath and two fingers on top (to help guide and give pressure) you can make a nice crease by laying the flat side of the folder against the paper. Almost every card making video you'll see of mine, I finish off the card with my bone folder as I run it over to create the perfect crease. I can notice a difference when I don't use it. Especially in 3D paper crafting where the bend is so important to have to create the new shape from the paper.

Curl
The curl is used mostly when making flowers or when you need to break apart the fibers in the paper so it can move easier. To create a curl with a bone folder you must hold the paper to the spine of the bone folder and place your thumb on the paper. Starting from the center and working the way to the end of the paper, you pull the paper across the bone folder and it will begin to curl. Be careful to not pull too hard or the paper will rip and too soft won't create much curl at all.

Hope these bone folder tips help you out. Be sure to grab your own from my online store or push off the dust and make your bone folder you best friend.

Happy Stampin' Everyone!!!
