Tuesday's Tip at Ten- Mass Producing Christmas Cards

Tis the season for mass producing Christmas cards! So here is my Tuesday's Tip(s) for you.
Design once and mass produce!
When you mass produce do all of one step multiple times. Cut all your paper at the same time. Stamp every thing at the same time. Even color everything at the same time.
Color all one color at a time.
For my wise man above I colored all of yellow parts first for each one and then moved onto the next color. This makes it go so much faster.
Color first, then die cut.
I also suggest when coloring lots of images that need to be die cut out, color first on the sheet of paper instead on just a little piece of paper. It is easier that way and less likely to lose.
Once they are all colored, die cut them all out. I using a half sheet of cardstock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. This size works best in the Die Cut and Embossing Machine.
Stamp extras
Sometimes you may die cut too close or color something wrong. So I always stamp a couple extra more then I need to insure I don't have to go back a step when I mess up (because I am human and do that some times). Plan to mess up.
Flip your stamped images
Lastly, if needed (like above), flip your image so that more can fit right next to each other.  I was able to get 12 wise men on this sheet and if I had not flipped 2 rows I would have only gotten 9.

Hope all these tips in your Christmas Card Making!

Merry Monday- Great Tidings Card

Merry Monday! Each Monday for the next 4 weeks leading up to Christmas I'll share a "Merry Monday" card with you with a Christmas theme!  Don't worry, Miss Monday will return will the New Year! There are only 27 days left until Christmas! Are your Christmas cards ready? If not, here is another idea using the Great Tidings bundle!

Be sure to stamp the inside of your card as a bonus and to carry on the theme from the front of the card.

This card is made for a friend's order who needs 15 of them to send to her church leaders. I love the Christ centered theme this card gives. I did hand color those wise men with Stampin' UP! blends which adds a personal touch and is a labor of love.

The inside of the card includes a little reminder of the gifts that were brought to Jesus. Instead of coloring these I used my wink of stella to add just a little glitter.

Happy Stampin' Everyone!!!

Tuesday's Tip at Ten- Mini Embossing Folder

Tuesday's Tip at Ten- How to use a Mini Embossing Folder to cover the front of your card!
Stampin' UP! has made mini embossing folders that would great with the Mini Embossing Machine but what if you want to use one to cover the whole front of your card (4 x 5 1/4)? Easy, just use a piece of DSP to cover where the two ends meet to cover the "line" this is created when you emboss it on both sides.

This card is made for a customer's order!

2.     Die cut a label from the Peaceful Place DSP (white with small gray diamonds pattern) using one of the large labels (embossed edge) from the Tasteful Labels dies.

3.     On the die cut label, stamp some foliage with the following ink colours:

a.     Branch with leaves: Smoky Slate ink

b.    Large pine sprig: Soft Succulent ink (stamped off once, & stamped as if in the background)

c.     Small pine sprig: Soft Succulent ink

4.     Glue the two poinsettias one on top of the other, offsetting the petals, with Stampin’ Seal.

5.     Tie a large bow with the Simply Elegant Trim (silver). Attach it to the back of the poinsettia with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Put the Stampin’ Dimensionals around the knot so your poinsettia won’t be wobbly on the card! Stick it on the die cut label in the middle of the foliage you stamped.

6.     Put three Metallic Pearls (silver) in the middle of the poinsettia.

7.     Using the Season’s Greetings stamp and Soft Succulent ink, randomly stamp “Season’s Greetings” on the Soft Succulent cardstock to create a background.  Stamp twice before inking the stamp again so you will have some light and some dark images.

8.     With Stampin’ Seal, stick the Soft Succent cardstock on the Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Then stick the Cherry Cobbler cardstock on the Smoky Slate card base.

9.     Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, stick the die cut label in the middle of the Soft Succulent cardstock layer.

·       Card Stock Layer Pumpkin Pie: 2” x 4 ¼”

·       Card Stock Layers Evening Evergreen: 4” x 5 ¼”, 2 ¼” x 3 ¾”, 2” x 4” and 1 ¾” x 4”

·       Card Stock Layers Very Vanilla: 2 ½” x 2 ¾”, 3 ¾” x 5” and 2” x 3 ½”

·       SP Layers:  1 ¾” x 3 ¾” and 1 ½”  x 3 ¾”

Instructions:

1.     This is a vertical tent fold split front card.  Score base along the long side at 5 ½” and crease – short section becomes the top of your card front.

2.     Adhere largest Evening Evergreen CS layer and largest Very Vanilla CS layer on inside of card centered.

3.     Adhere the 1 ¾” x 4” and the 2” x 4” pieces of Evening Evergreen CS to the top front portion of the card (Sec.1) and onto the 2” x 4 ¼” piece of Pumpkin Pie CS (Sec. 2).  Repeat this with the two layers of Cork SP.

4.     Position Sec. 2 at the bottom of the card base front and make a small pencil mark on the Very Vanilla CS insert – to show where the top piece comes down to and the bottom piece comes up to – then stamp the vine and flower from the set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad to the left between the two pencil marks.  Erase the pencil marks.

5.     Stamp your sentiment onto the 2 x 3 ½” piece of Very Vanilla near top with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink; then adhere this piece to the 2 ¼” x 3 ¾” piece of Evening Evergreen CS.  This becomes your bridge piece (Sec. 3).  So laying Sec. 2 at the bottom again; place adhesive on the back of Sec. 3 at the top and bottom only and adhere overlapping Sec. 1 and Sec. 2 as shown in picture.

6.     On the 2 ½” x 2 ¾” piece of Very Vanilla stamp your pumpkin image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Allow to dry for a couple minutes – then color your pumpkins and the vine and flower – I water-colored using the Ink Pads and Water Painters – but could use Watercolor pencils, blends or markers as well.

7.     Cut out pumpkins using the coordinating die and pop up on the front of the card as shown using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

8.     Color three of the smallest Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends and add to the front of the card.
