Manly Monday- Hippo Happiness

Today's Manly Monday card was inspired by two men. My "little man", Hudson who is 9 and Brian King, a super talented Stampin' UP! Demonstrator who designed this card. My Hudson loves Hippos! Ever since he was 18 months old Hippos have been "his" animal. We first told him it was his because they have matching first letters, but then he grew to love them more and more. He even has a stuffed animal Hippo that he has slept with for over 7 years! So I went on a search to find a card to make with his love of Hippos in mind and wanted to keep it "manly". I found Brian King's card on pinterest and instantly loved the "clean" design. Not too busy, or too bright. In fact, it had a great color scheme. I CASE his card and only change a couple of things (my yellow strip is smaller and doesn't have a banner on the end and my Hippo has bow tie).

Here is my Happy Hippo with is bow tie on!

Of course I make 4 of this card design to help me grow my "Manly" cards stock pile. Most are the same however, I did give one Hippo a different bow tie and did enlarge one of the labels by spacing them further a apart and then covering the gap with the banners.

I am happy to say this card brought a HUGE smile to my sons face and I sure love this card and hope you do too! You can create this card by shopping on my online store and by following the directions below.

Steps
  1. Cut all your layers and card base. Also run the medium label from the Hippo and Friends Dies through your did cutting machine in Just Jade and Pool Party. Cut that label in half (about 1 1/4) with trimmer.
  2. Stamp on a scrap of Whisper White the cute little hippo. Stamp the Smoky Slate first and then the Basic Gray (it is easier to line it up this way). Then use the black memento to stamp the hippo's face. Run him through you die cutting machine along with the bow tie using the DSP.
  3. Stamp your hippo saying (either one) onto your Whisper White strip and flag/banner one end of it.
  4. Next, start glueing all your layers. Use dimenionals for the hippo and be sure have him cover the end where the Daffodi Delight and Whisper White meet. If you want to enlarge your label, just space them out and use the Daffodi and White strips to cover the gap.

Cute Fruit- Pineapples

Each month I make cards for my Royal Hearts Stampers Team. They get the month's card with their "Sweet Rewards" when they reach different sales goals. I started recently doing theme colors for their rewards and for their cards I would send out. June's color was Just Jade, one of the new In Colors. After watching my team leaders video I was inspired to make this card!

Mr. Pineapple
This one has the cutest little mustache and I love him so much!

Mrs. Pineapple
This one is my girl pineapple and she has a little linen thread bow.

This was my orginal card I made for my team but love them better seperate! Still a cute card but I love the others even more and will be sending those to my team!

Box of Sunshine- Paper Pumpkin June 2020

Box of Sunshine is June's 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit! This kit is amazing and was designed by Sara Douglas, Stampin' UP!'s CEO. It screams her style with bright colors with blacks and golds! Her idea behind this is to make the cards and to send "sunshine" to someone who needs it. It could be a neighbor, a friend, someone who is going through a hard time, or even a teacher! The kit even includes an address label and matching stickers to design the Paper Pumpkin box with! You then fill the box with yellow, happy things and send the sunshine along! But stop with just one friend, grab some yellow bags and fill with sunshine and your card and drop those off to someone! This kit comes with 8 cards and LOTS of extra pieces and that fabulous stamp set, so you can keep the sunshine coming!

*Fruit Themed

*Sunshine Themed
*Inside my Box of Sunshine, candy, card, post it notes, pen, and a smiley stress ball.

*Outside of box all decorated and ready to send, but to who??

If you don't want to miss out on next month's Paper Pumpkin kit, Summer Nights, be sure to subscribe by July 10th.

Unicorn Card using Hippo Happiness

Here is a fun, animated like Unicorn card using the Hippo Happiness stamp set and Hippo & Friends Dies by ©Stampin' UP! I paired this playful unicorn with the new Rainbow Glimmer paper and the sequins from a Whale of a Time suite! This stamp set is a million dollar sales achiever set designed by the demonstrator, Robyn Cardon. You have probably seen her videos or know her name! She has been very successful in her Stampin' UP! business and I've attended a couple of her Demo only parties!

These dies not only cut out the stamped images but have these amazing stitched shapes that are easy to layer!

Here you can see the stitching around this shape and that AMAZING Rainbow Glimmer Paper!

This stamp set is a multi-step stamp set. It will take you 3 stamps to make the one image. Which requires multi-colors or using the "stamp off" technique. It can be tricky to line up just right and I suggest either always stamping on a piece of paper then die cutting it out (so not directly on to your card) OR to practice lots on scrap paper to get a good feel of how to line them up just right.

Love this set? You can create your own by visiting my online store to shop for all the supplies and by following the directions below!

Card Base- Whisper White Thick 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 score at 4 1/4
Bermuda Bay: 4 x 5 1/4
Whisper White: 3 3/4 x 5

Steps
  1. Cut and prep all of your paper and cut out the Bermuda Bay stitched shape and Rainbow Glimmer.
  2. Stamp you unicorn on a scrap of Whisper White and use die to cut it out. Also, cut out the horn using the gold foil. To stamp unicorn use the dark (without a nose) image first and then stamp off the tail, nose, and hair unicorn stamp then line up over your first stamped image. Use the Memento ink for the unicorn's face. Use wink of stella all over the dark unicorn (careful not to let the ink run too much and not over his memento eyes, nose, and mouth).
  3. Stamp the saying on a scrap of Bermuda Bay in Memento Ink and just out with your paper snips.
  4. Stamp your stars in Bermuda Bay going across your Whisper White center.*Flip over your stitched Bermuda Bay to give you a reference of where to stamp.
  5. Glue everything on with liquid glue (sequins and layers) but use dimensionals for your unicorn.
*You can switch out colors of unicorn and layers depending on what colors are in your rainbow glimmer paper!

Manly Monday-Whale Done Thanks a Ton

Today's Four Manly Monday features the same ©Stampin' UP! stamp set from last week BUT this time I didn't stamp the whale but made it out of "punch art".  Not only does the Whale Builder Punch punch out the stamped image but its is a "builder punch".  Which means it punches out shapes you can then use to create a whale with no stamping needed. I did, however,  stamp on it after I punched him out to give him some extra texture.

*Whale Builder Punch
Whale, Whale under belly, flipper, blow hole splash, and eye.

Here are all four of my cards I made for Manly Monday. Remember, I am growing my card collection to have more manly cards ready and so I make not one card but four cards each Monday of 2020. Every whale tail is different out in the wild and so have fun with your tales. They don't have to be stamped the same on each one.

I used the Nestled Label Flap fun fold design for this card. See my other post to watch my video on how this fun fold is created.

You can make this card too by shopping at my online store and following the directions below.

  3. Stamp all your images. Pacific Point ink for top left corner and Pool Party ink for all of the stamping on the Stitched Nested Label.

  5. Score your Stitched Nested Label at 4 inches and add tear tape above the score line. Attach to the Whisper White cardstock for the inside on the top right side. Then glue to the card base.
  6. Glue Seabed strip to the bottom of your score line of card base and use bone folder to help it crease nicely.

Cute Fruit

Have you ever looked at a stamp set and saw something you wanted to create instantly with it? Well, that is what happened to me with this Cute Fruit stamp set by ©Stampin' UP! I was watching a fellow demo and friend's facebook live and she showed us the stamp set (just like the image below) and from that I saw a happy banana face! Silly I know! But I can't help but smile when I see it and after all isn't that what cards are for? To make people smile?

After I made that cute face I decided to CASE (copy and share everything) right from the mini Catalog. That is a great place to start! Stamp like the samples in the catalog and tweak it just a little bit to make it "yours". Don't feel like you are cheating. Stampin' UP! wants you to copy their designs using their products! Their catalogs are full of great ideas!

Mountain Air Panel Card

This card I made using the Mountain Air stamp set by ©Stampin' UP! for a card challenge a couple of months ago. It has quickly become a favorite on Pinterest. So I thought I would share how I made it, even though some of the items used are now retired. A little back story, I grew up in Utah, Idaho, and Colorado and was always surrounded by beautiful mountains. So seeing cards like these remind me of home. I spent 4 years in Ohio (which I loved) but they don't have mountains like these! I am grateful to be in California now and can see both the mountains and ocean.

  2. Stamp your tree onto the Shaded Spruce and die cut out.
  3. Punch out label in Seaside Spray and use Night of Navy ink what what ever saying you have that will fit.
  4. To attach panels you need to start with the outside ones first and glue on the middle to the card base last. This will help with your spacing.

  6. Use ribbon behind the label or leave blank and attach with mini dimenionals as well.

Manly Monday-Whale Done

Every Monday I make "Four Manly Cards" for Manly Monday to share on my Facebook page. I found that in my own card supply that I never had enough masculine cards and started this goal in January 2020 to help me out! I make four each time because four is my favorite number. It also allows me to keep one and send 3 out. I figure I already have the supplies out for one card, I minus well make more.

This Monday I use the Whale Done stamp set by ©Stampin' UP! and paried it with the DSP and some of the embellishments from the Whale of a Time Suite.

Sometimes adding that little extra piece of DSP to the inside of the card really makes it look great and finished. I have a friend that says, "No naked insides", because she believes you should stamp from front to cover and I totally agree!

Sometimes I change up the design just a little bit by using the other side of the DSP or by embellishing more on one than another. Click on the whales above and see if you can spot the difference.

Here are all four cards I made. All have the same measurements but I just change the layout a little bit. You can make these cards too by visiting my online store to order the supplies and following the steps below.

Supplies
#154053 Whale Done Bundle (Punch and Stamp Set) $31.50
#152460 Whale of a Time 6 x 6 DSP $11.50
#152461 Whale of a Time Sequins $6.50

DSP: 2 3/4 x 2 3/4
ribbon: 3 1/4
Inside White: 2 3/4 x 4 1/2
Scrap of Whisper White for the Whales and scrap of vellum for spout

Steps
  1. Cut all your paper from above and run the Just Jade Cardstock through your die cutting machine using the Seabed embossing folder.
  2. Stamp your whales on a scrap of Whisper White in Pacific Point ink and use the punch to cut it out. If using vellum, punch out the spout as well.
  3. Stamp your sayings on the top left corner of Whisper White cardstock using the Just Jade ink.
  4. Glue your DSP onto the 2 3/4 x 4 Whisper White on the bottom part.
  5. Use Tear Tape to attach your ribbon right where the DSP ends and the Whisper White begins on the top part.
  6. Glue on the Just Jade embossed piece to the card base. Then use dimenionals to attach the DSP/Whisper White at an angle on top of the Just Jade piece.
  7. Use dimenionals if you are adding the whale.
  8. Glue on the inside Whisper White piece. Either attach a little DSP to the bottom or stamp some cute fishes!

Here is a close up on the embellished whale card! It is subtle but the sequins and vellum spout really add to it. I currently live in California right by the ocean (like I can see it from my bedroom window) and we really enjoy going whale watching. However, we rarely "see" the whale and only see the whale water spout! So this card is really special to me.

Queen Swaps-Theme Preorder

Each month the stampin' team I am a part does a swap with a theme. These swaps come from the stampers who are part of the Queen of the Stamp Age (aka Queens) and the theme was to use items from the New Annual Catalog Preorder list. For preorder only a selective few stamps and supplies are available to order. These swaps are amazing as they showcase these same stamp sets yet in all different ways. Scroll and click through the photos below and note the creator of each card!
